Port of Inkoo is a privately owned, public commercial
port.
Next door to the port there is situated the Inkoo powerstation of
Fortum with its own port facilities which can be used, if needed,
by separate agreement.
The annual traffic to the port is approx one million tons. The
port's whole traffic is tramp shipments; there is no liner traffic
into the port.
The port is one of the 23 winter ports in Finland, which are
kept open by the icebreakers of the Finnisch Maritime
Administration in wintertime. The ice conditions are, however, easy
at Inkoo during normal winters, and thus the channel is ice free
almost always.
The port is speciliazed in handling and storing of dry bulk
materials. The ports competitiveness is based on flexible handling
and storing possibilities, long experience in handling of bulk
materials and the port's geographical location together with good
connections by sea and road.
The port is situated in the bay of Fagervik at Inkoo district
(60°01'N, 23°55'E). There are good and fast road connections to
Helsinki and other main centres of trading and industry. The
distance to Helsinki by road is about 60 km, to Lohja about 30 km,
to Lahti about 150 km, to Turku about 120 km and to Tampere about
200 km.
Port regulations accepted by the local authorities of Inkoo on
the 17th of March, 2005 must be followed within the port area.
The company has its own stevedoring department, which offers
vessel and cargo handling services at the port of Inkoo, and its
own clearance and forwarding departments at Inkoo and Parainen
offering services for vessel in these ports and other ports in the
near distance.
